What actions have you taken in the past to fight for housing justice?  From a young age I have been fighting for low-income residents, as a teenager I fought to save and have also worked in housing court in Kings County of behalf of tenants. I have stood with many organizations, including MET Council on Housing, VOCAL, Tenants associations, and countless others in marches, rallies, and meetings. I am running to ensure all of my neighbors can stay in their homes.

Please explain why or why not On a case by case basis. While I oppose further privatization of NYCHA, I personally investigate many buildings and have seen some of these projects be beneficial for the tenants. Case by case I am open to reviewing every building and giving every situation the attention it deserves for us to ensure we improve the conditions in NYCHAs

What do you see as the best strategies to rectify these problems?  Funding is one aspect – corruption is another. I believe uprooting the management and ensuring protections

How would you use your office to put pressure on landlords to make repairs and stop harassing tenants?  I would publicly organize tenants in my community and enfranchise them with as many resources as possible. I would continue to investigate individual buildings, landlords, co-op boards, and tenants associations to ensure everyone in my district can live in dignity.

Will you support increased funding and oversight hearings of DHCR’s Office of Rent Administration to ensure timely responses on overcharge complaints and rent reduction orders for hazardous conditions?  Yes
